The Golden Circle Tour
The Golden Circle is the name given to a 229 kilometer (142 miles) circular route from Reykjavik and back. It’s one of the most popular sightseeing tour in Iceland, which will cover the four most popular stops along the route: Friðheimar, The Geysir, Gullfoss and the Þingvellir National Park. We booked and joined the Golden Circle bus tour through http://www.re.is
Everyone that visits Iceland cannot miss the Golden Circle tour. Let me show you around the Golden Circle. Click on our photos to get you there.
First stop: Friðheimar
At Friðheimar, they grow tomatoes all year round, despite Iceland’s long, dark winters, under artificial lighting in greenhouses. Everyone is welcome to see their greenhouses, and then enjoy a taste of the crop. They also breed horses, and put on a horse show.
Second stop: The Geysir
The Strokkur Geysir (Icelandic meaning: geysir “to gush” and strokkur “to churn”).
Third stop: Gullfoss
Gullfoss waterfalls, is also called “Golden Falls”. The water plunging down the three step staircase and then tumbling in into two steps down into the deep crevice truly looks golden.
Forth stop: Þingvellir National Park
Situated on the northern shore of lake Þingvallavatn, Þingvellir is the national shrine of Iceland. It is, for one, a key location in Icelandic history as the oldest existing parliament in the world first assembled there in 930 AD. Þingvellir has for this reason been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Golden Circle tour is worth doing. We hope to return again soon.
